Environmental Communication and Management - Magister (1 year master) Programme, 60 HEC

Miljökommunikation - magisterprogram

Practical work in the field of natural resource management and sustainable development also involves communication. How can we manage conflicting intrests between people and organisations?

Projects in natural resource management and sustainable development often fail. One reason for this is that people, with their different perspectives and interests, are not taken into account. This programme offers students a theoretical and practical training in organising collective action and facilitating communication in natural resource management and environmental issues. The programme focuses on people-to-people and people-nature interaction.

We expect you to be interested in sustainable development and natural resource management.

Content and Outline
The Master´s programme aims to build bridges between science and society. It starts with an introduction to environmental communication and management. In the second part of the programme students learn about communicative strategies and gain an insight into Natural Resource Managements systems in Sweden, Europe and elsewhere. The next block of courses is “Preparation for working life”. We focus on processes and conflict management, on the interaction between people, why problems occur and how to solve them. The emphasis in the final part of the programme is on practice. By spending time at an organisation or institution students gain working experience and insight in how their future working life might be.
