Uppsala is Sweden’s fourth largest city with a population of 200, 000. The city is located 67 km north of the capital, Stockholm, and it is also the seat of the Uppsala Municipality. Uppsala is rich in cultural and historical experiences. While exploring Uppsala, you will find that Uppsala has a quaint, small-town feel while offering a big city’s selection of restaurants, shops and entertainment.

Uppsala has many historical attractions that are worth experiencing. The most well-known include:
• Uppsala Cathedral (domkyrka), the largest cathedral in Scandinavia
• Uppsala’s Botanical Garden: http://www.botan.uu.se/Botaneng.html
• Gustavianum, a unique anatomical theatre built in the 1600’s
• The Linnaeus Garden, Sweden’s first botanical garden: http://www.linnaeus.uu.se/LTeng.html
• Uppsala Castle from the mid-1500's
• Gamla Uppsala (Old Uppsala), the location of the pre-Christian town of Uppsala

Although Uppsala has long-standing traditions built over the course of history, it continues to thrive and prosper as a dynamic industrial and commercial city where knowledge, ideas and entrepreneurship are at its core.
