SLU Forest Map was previoulsy known as kNN-Sweden. This name comes from the method used, k Nearest Neighbours.

The method is based on the combination of satellite images from Saccess and field data from the Swedish National Forest Inventory.

kNN-Sweden is developed and produced by the Remote Sensing Laboratory, Forest Resource Management, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Umeå, Northern Sweden.

Among the financers are the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the Swedish Forest Agency, the Swedish National Space Board, RESE, SUFOR och SLU.
