Successful research collaboration SLU-Utrecht
The synergy effects of the joint research project between SLU and Utrecht University called Canine Spine Investigations (CSI Utrecht/CSI Uppsala) is bearing fruit.
The group has been awarded the best abstract (written and submitted by Niklas Bergknut, SLU and presented by Luc Smolders, Utrecht) at the European Veterinary Congress Voorjaarsdagen in Amsterdam (April 2010) as well as with the Young Investigator Award (for Luc Smolders) at the International Biospine 3 Congress (September 2010).
Notable is that this is the first time that a veterinarian receives the prestigious award in this biomedical dominated spine research community.
The canine spine research that started in 2008 has already led to a number of publications, posters and abstracts including this month a publication in the highly ranked journal Biomaterials, with Niklas Bergknut as first author.
