On 25 January SLU was visited by His Excellency Ambassador of Uganda Joseph Tomusange, together with Embassy Secretary Ms Margaret Otteskov, Honorary Consul Claes Torén, and Chairman of the Swedish–East African Chamber of Commerce Harald von Matérn.
The delegation was welcomed by Assistant Vice-Chancellor Johan Schnürer. They heard presentations about SLU’s new program Agricultural Sciences for Global Development (SLU Global) by Arvid Uggla, infectious diseases in urban and peri-urban animal farming by Sofia Boqvist, the advantages of the Open Access publication system by Urban Ericsson, high quality fertilizers from local resources/wastes by Björn Vinnerås and about biotechnology and capacity building in crop development by Christina Dixelius.
The ambassador and the SLU-Global management and researchers discussed how to continue successful programs and ways in which to develop new cooperative endeavors in the future.
