Quality in the food chain

One of SLU's strengths

"Research on food from raw material to final product is an area unique to SLU within Sweden, and includes both the quality of raw materials and the resulting reactions within processing, storage, and preparation. Research on the different components in cereal and animal products and their significance for food and technical quality is a particularly strong area.

Food safety is another area where SLU competence has long been recognized as world-leading, and current research includes parasites in meat, micro-organisms in food, bacteria and parasites in drinking water, heavy metals and antibiotics in milk and meat, histamines in fish, and gene-toxic compounds such as acrylamide."
