SLU takes part in the new initiative on tertiary education in agriculture (TAE) in Africa

(130218)Prof. Hamidou Boly Coordinator of TEAM-Africa

The initiative works through a mechanism called TEAM-Africa (Tertiary Education for Agriculture Mechanism in Africa) which has the mandate from the African Union to support institutional reform and curriculum development in African universities. The aim is to improve food security and work for poverty alleviation in Africa.
During this week representatives from TEAM-Africa, RUFORUM, World Bank, Technical University of Lisbon and SLU meet in a workshop, in SLU Uppsala, to create a working plan for a prospective study with the goals to:
  • identify and analyze forthcoming changes in the rapidly changing African agri-food sector
  • provide suggestions for concrete mechanisms that allow African universities to create relevant agricultural educational programs to meet these new demands

Please contact Carolyn Glynn (SLU Global) if you are interested in the TEAM-Africa initiative and Sebastian Hess (Department of Economics) for the prospective study in particular.
