National University of Rwanda

In February 2012 a delegation with eight staff from SLU visited the National University of Rwanda in Butare. The aim of the visit was to deepen the collaboration which was established in 2010 and formalized by a Memorandum of Understanding in 2011/2012.

During the visit, the SLU delegation first met with the NUR Rector Prof. Silas Lwakabamba and the Director for Research Commission Prof. Verdiana Masanja. After a short visit at NUR's fish farming facilites, NUR and SLU researchers engaged in a workshop during which plans for developing of a number of MSc and PhD programmes at NUR were elaborated (see areas of collaboration to the right).

The SLU delegation and staff from NUR also made a visit at the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources (MINAGRI) in Kigali to meet Hon. Minister Dr. Agnes Kalibata, who offered the collaboration MINAGRI's full support. A short report from this visit is published on MINAGRI's website.
