SLU REDD
The SLU REDD programme was established 2011 as a part of SLU Global, Agricultural Sciences for Global Development.
The programme is intended to function as a hub for REDD+ related projects and initiatives within SLU, and also as a means of coordinating and promoting collaboration on REDD+ issues with other stakeholders.
For a detailed description, see SLU REDD Programme.
The programme has four strategic areas, which are listed below. SLU researchers and analysts currently engaged in each area are listed on pages that can be reached by following the links below:
REDD is the acronym for Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation. The mechanism REDD+, currently negotiated under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), recognizes the critical role of forests in mitigating climate change and involves payments to developing countries for reaching targets related to deforestation and degradation of forests.
REDD+ includes enhancement of forest carbon stocks and encompasses sustainable forest management and conservation of valuable forests, etc.
