Agriculture:

Flour, oil, hay or fuel?

Food for humans, fodder for animals, and sources of energy are produced in Swedish agriculture. Research into plant production encompasses broad areas, and the main thread is that we are looking for sustainable and environment friendly methods of production.

We need to look after our soils, be economical in our use of valuable fertilisers, protect the crops from disease and weed, and at the same time take care of nature.

Naturally, our crops must be of good quality and be reasonably priced. We need to understand the life processes of plants, animals and microorganisms in order to attain our objectives.

But not everything is biology. We also need better buildings and machines, and new technology. We may also need new crops and new cultivation systems. We conduct research on a wide front!
