Landscape architecture comprise physical planning of entire regions, shaping new green open spaces and maintenance of already built urban environments.
Research is done at SLU on weed control and the recycling of waste products in park management. Other projects deal with maintaining the knowledge of the management techniques in gardens, parks and landscapes of bygone eras.
Some important areas are environmental communication and environmental impact assessment that have to be considered in physical planning before major landscape measures are taken.
