The urban environment from a children's perspective
At SLU there are researchers specialising in various planning, design and management issues in relation to children, the outdoor environment and the urban environment.
Three projects are being started in 2011, focusing on outdoor environments for children on different scales – from micro levels such as schoolyards, to larger-scale environments such as housing developments and infrastructure.
"In these projects we will be testing methods and techniques for evaluating urban environments from a children's perspective. The aim is to provide planners with better tools for evaluating outdoor environments for children, thereby helping to improve the basis for urban planning decisions," explains Maria Kylin, who is coordinating the projects.
