MicroDrivE - Microbially Derived Energy

MicroDrivE is a thematic research program on sustainable biofuel production at the Faculty for Natural Resources and Agriculture (NL), Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).

Our aim is to develop biofuel production processes based on forrestry and agricultural biomass with maximal energy and economical output and minimal environmental inpact.

Our research modulel mimics the circular flow of biomass in sustainable production systems i.e. starting with storage and pretreatment of biomass followed by biofuel production steps and ending with recirculation of residual nutrients to the soil.

We work together with industrial partners to use our research findings to design optimum scale processes integrated into bioenergy combines with excisting infrastructure.
