Our task

According to the agreement made between the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the University of Agricultural Science, SCNI is intended to:

* complement the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency in its work and responsibility on a national level.
* review the field of nature interpretation on both a national and international level.
* act as a driving force for, and initiate research about, the development and adaptation of nature interpretation.
* be an active node in a national network for contacts, knowledge and its distribution.
* be a part of international networks and assemblies.
* be a resource of competence and spread knowledge.
* develop new methods, initiate application of new techniques and monitor and evaluate these.
* coordinate, initiate and if necessary also offer education on a national basis.
* support quality assurance of guiding activities.
* be able to accept but also make commissions. 
* build up a specialist library.
