New statistics from the Swedish National Forest Inventory

Since the 1980's the total standing volume in final felling stage forests has increased by 26% (cuurrent level is 213 cubic meters per hectare), and by 7% in thinning stage forest (cirrent level 134 cubic meters per hectare). Noteworthy is an increase in standing volume of 56% in thicket and precommercial felling stage forests, mainly due to more mature tree being left during final felling.

In the publication SKOGSDATA 2011  the Swedish National Forest Inventory presents the current official statistics plus an themed analysis, this year about field and ground layer vegetation in Swedish forests.  More.

Skogsdata 2011 is available as both a pdf and a printed publication, the tables are available in excel format.  Downloads and orders.
