Research database
The database is adapted for efficient multi-user data entry and has been developed around a flexible structure that permits future adjustments. This flexibility will enable future expansion to incorporate data from the second NFI (1938-1952) and eventually also link these datasets to the data collected after 1953.
The current system includes a Windows application used for data-entry of 1) transect information 2) tree counts and 3) sample trees. This application presents an interface showing data in a way that strongly resembles the three different field data sheets which makes entering and checking data easier. There are also administrative routines for the supervision and management of the data entering process and to check the integrity and allow early identification of data-entry mistakes. The system is built with security in mind to prevent data-enterers from accidentally corrupting previously entered data.
