Postdoc at the unit of Microbial Horticulture, Department of Biosystems and Technology

Presentation

I'm a researcher in horticulture with a special focus on microbial communities on horticultural produce and in soil. I received my PhD in 2014 with the thesis named “Dynamics of root microorganisms in closed hydroponic cropping systems” dealing with spread of plant root pathogens in hydroponic systems and its effect on root microbial communities. I have worked with characterization of microbial communities in the phyllosphere of leafy vegetables in a farm-to-fork perspective, looking specifically for contamination events involving human pathogens. I'm currently investigating effects of crop rotations on soil microbial community composition and microbial activity in organic greenhouse production, as well as the suppressive effect of the soil microbiota against soil borne plant pathogens.

Teaching

I teach primarily at the Horticultural Science program and the Horticultural management program, but Iäm also doing short inputs at the Agroecology program and the Agricultural and Rural management program.

I’m the course organizer of Microbial Horticulture (15 hp) and Project Based Research Training (15 hp).
