Presentation

I currently work with genomics of wood decay fungi and bacteria, population genomics of Serpula lacrymans. At our department gene family evolution and transcriptomics is studied with regard to wood decay mechanisms, mineral weathering and fruit body formation. Transcriptomics is studied by means of NimblGen microarrays and SOLEXA sequencing. Genome wide analysis on the population level is studied with the aim to reveal areas of the genome that have been the target for intensive recent selection. Genome analysis of bacteria is focused on antagonistic interactions with plant pathogenic fungi.

Other research interests include tropical soil with the application of increased agricultural production. In this area I work with crop rotation and compost amendemend in order to achieve a high but yet sustainable production. Projects in this area are situated in Vietnam and Uganda. I teach at preparatory science at SLU.

Some ongoing projects:

  • The Serpula lacrymans genome project
  • Population genomics of Serpula lacrymans
  • Microbial communities in tropical crop systems
–studies of rice and rambutan in the Mekong delta
  • Successional changes of microbial communities in compost ecosystems
  • Genomics of plant pathogen antagonism and plant growth promotion
