New faces

Malin Leidefors will be doing her bachelors thesis with Karina Clemmensen during the coming two-three months starting the 5th of April.

Hernán Dario Capador Barreto started on the 22 of March, a course in research training here at the department. The course is part of the Plant Biology Master’s program. Hernán will work together with Åke Olson and Berit Samils on development of microsatellite markers for the rust fungus Thekopsora areolate which infects spruce and causes seed losses in seed orchards.

Arpita Maheshwari is Sara Hallin's new PhD student who started on the 15th of March. She shares office with Tina, Rajiv and Mudassir. Arpita will be working on ecological processes that drive assembly of N2O reducing communities in soils along environmental gradients. The underlying ecophysiology that drives these differences will be explored through enrichment experiments and studies of pure cultures.
Ingeborg Zinger from the Netherlands is doing an internship (master-thesis) together with Magnus, Mukesh and Malin. She will be staying until mid-June, and will be working with QTL mapping of disease resistance in pea. She will also work with the chalcone synthase gene family in legumes.
Karolina Jörgensen, an agronomy student, will start her master thesis next week. She will work on a project on rust on barberry together with Jonathan Yuen and Anna Berlin.
