Welcome to the Department of Microbiology

Our staff comprises 8 professors, about 20 researchers and postdocs and 15 PhD students as well as technical and administrative personnel.

Research at the department comprises both basic and applied microbiology and is divided into six main areas.

We offer courses in fundamental microbiology, genetic engineering, food and feed microbiology, industrial microbiology and soil microbiology.

We are part of the BioCenter at SLU in Uppsala.

2015-10-08: The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation awards a grant to the project Evolutionarily conserved mechanisms of stress response that converge on mediator and chromatin structure in which Hans Ronne at the Department of Microbiology is a co-applicant.
