Where do you come from?

The Netherlands, but now I live here in Sweden.

What did you study at SLU?

Biology and some Plant Science

What do you work with now?

I am a Ph.D. student in Systematics.

Tell us about your time at SLU

I have very fond memories of my exchange year.  I came here with my girlfriend and we loved Sweden so much that we decided to buy a house here.  So we found a great cottage outside of Uppsala and bought it.  We moved to Sweden permanently a few years later.  We now have three kids.

What was the best thing about studying at SLU?

The interesting courses.

What do you like the most about Sweden?

I love the friendly people and the beautiful landscape.  The Netherlands is so flat and organised, and there are too many people.  Sweden has such a pretty countryside and nature.

Would you recommend going on exchange at SLU to others?

Yes, most definitely.  Sweden is great, and there is no better way to learn a language than to study overseas.
