On behalf of all university staff members and students, we welcome you to the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. We hope that you will enjoy your time as a Master’s student with us, and wish you every academic success.
Start of the semester
The academic year will begin on the 3rd September 2012, and end on the 9th June 2013. An orientation programme for new students will be held on each SLU campus. Though orientation is not compulsory, it is extremely important that you attend. To read more about the orientation programme, visit Orientation.
Students from a country outside of the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) must have a valid visa to study in Sweden. Visas are applied for through the Swedish Migration Board (Migrationsverket).
Please apply for a visa as soon as possible, as this procedure usually takes from six to eight weeks. You will not be permitted to enter Sweden without a valid student visa.
If you are a citizen of an EU and EEA country, you do not need to apply for a visa to study in Sweden. However, you will need to apply for a residence permit within three months of your arrival in Sweden. Residence permits are organised through the Swedish Migration Board (Migrationsverket).
SLU will organise accommodation on behalf of all fee-paying Master's students and exchage students. These students will be offered a fully furnished student dorm room located close to the campus or city centre. Some dorm rooms have a private bathroom.
All other students are responsible for organising their own accommodation. To read about accommodation options, visit Accommodation.
Tuition fees and scholarships
Students coming from countries outside of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland are required to pay an application and tuition fee.
If you have any questions regarding your admission, please email our study and career advisors.
