Welcome to SLU and the Master’s programme Management of Fish and Wildlife Populations!
I am happy to welcome you to the master’s programme Management of Fish and Wildlife Populations, administered by the Department of Wildlife, Fish, and Environmental Studies at SLU. Congratulations on your acceptance!
Much useful information about Master's studies at SLU in general can be found HERE.
The first year of the Master’s programme consists of four compulsory courses, whereas the second year offers many options. The first of these four core courses is Fish and Wildlife Census Techniques which will start on Monday the 3rd of September 2012. We meet at the Department of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental studies at 10:00 am, in the seminar room “Laxen”.
A preliminary schedule is to be found on the course homepage HERE but a final schedule will be distributed at the start of the course. The course leader is Prof. Anders Alanärä. Dr. Alanärä is not available during July, but if you have questions about this or another course in the Master's degree programme, please contact me at john.ball@slu.se. I will be around during July and am happy to answer questions.
Please note that this course is very practically oriented and we will be outdoor practicing different census techniques. Therefore, you should bring clothes for all kind of weather.
Finally, to make sure that you do not forget anything, please follow the steps for new students outlined HERE.
Again, I wish you a very warm welcome to the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and in particular, to our Master's programme! See you in September!
Regards,
Dr. John P. Ball
