Genetic population structure of brackish water pike in the Baltic Sea

Published: 13 January 2017

Together with researchers at Stockholm University, researchers at SLU Aqua has recently published a scientific paper on the genetic population structure of brackish water pike in the Baltic Sea. Somewhat surprisingly the authors found rather weak but temporally stable genetic differentiation between areas in the Baltic Sea. The study is to date the largest study on pike conducted so far, and suggest that there might be migration of pike between coastal areas despite its rather stationary behaviour.
