Smaller cod and flounder in the Baltic Sea

Published: 09 February 2017

The recent compilation and standardization of a trawl survey database has allowed the exploration of long-term trends of abundance and maximum length of cod and flounder in the Baltic Sea.

The results show that both cod and flounder are becoming smaller in size in all the areas analysed. Another interesting result is the indication of cod movement between the eastern and the western part of the Baltic.

The results from the study, led by SLU Aqua, is published  in ICES Journal of Marine Science.
