HORTICULTURE
The Department of Horticulture is responsible for biological research and education concerning the production, handling and quality of fruit, berries, vegetables and ornamental plants. We perform basic research and also work with more applied research themes with a relevance to stakeholders in the horticultural sector. The focus of our research is on effects of cultivation methods on longterm soil health, production stability and environmental effects, as well as the influence of climatic factors, soil or substrate characteristics and root microflora on production ability and product quality. Our research spans from field studies to experiments in climate chambers and laboratories.
