Research projects

My PhD project concerns olfaction in the guatemalan moth Tecia solanivora, which is a pest on potato in northern South America. I study how the moth uses olfaction to find suitable host by evaluating volatile compounds from potato foliage, flower and tubers. Additionally, sexual pheromone blends for mating disruption are studied. Electrophysiological, windtunnel and oviposition test are used in lab as well as assays in potato field and storage.
