About the Department

We carry out teaching in the technical-biological areas within, among others, agricultural management, landscape architecture, agricultural science and the equine program including the “Partnership program at SLU” and the Master’s degree program in environment and health protection at Lund’s University. We also carry out short and extension courses via individual courses and distance teaching.

Our research is based on the national responsibility for agricultural engineering, and we work to constructively adapt rural buildings to the requirements set with respect to animal housing and production, the environment and the management and storage of farm products. Even questions of residential and leisure time activities in rural areas must be considered. The training/education of research scientists is carried out in the technological and domestic animal sciences. In the research scientist training we strive to attain an intensive collaboration with other universities and faculties having similar activities.

Our activities have a tradition of maintaining good contact and cooperation with industry: the technical industry and food manufacturing industry, together with different advisory organisations and public authorities. Our aim is to retain and develop these good contacts and collaboration.
