Röbäcksdalen research center provides good animal and dairy barn environment for research and teaching on cultivation, evaluation and feeding of roughage, primarily to dairy cows and sheep.

The new research barn offering colleagues and industry a unique research environment, where new technologies in the production of milk are used and where research of the highest class are conducted focusing on forage and sustainable food production.

Dairy barn

The Department's dairy barn / property at Röbäcksdalen, is an important resource for research and education. A new research barn for 120 milking cows plus replacement recruitment was established in 2006. The high-tech barn is a key resource for expanding research in the dairy and beef production.

The barn is divided into two parts, one of which is partially insulated while the other is completely un-insulated. In the isolated part, the feeding table, has been replaced by feeding troughs with load cells which give the opportunity for individual measurement of feed consumption.
