Current projects:
Ecosystem effects of plant biodiversity in grasslands
Application of cattle slurry to grass leys in autumn
Nitrogen and phosphorous cycling under colonies of cormorants
Carbon sequestration and production of reed canary grass as a bioenergy crop.
My research focus on carbon and nitrogen cycling in soil, especially soil fertilized by animal manure. Methods used are; field experiments (including 15N fertilization) and investigations, respiration meaurements, and nitrogen net mineralisation studies in lab. To get a more complete picture of the studied systems I collaborate with ecologists, and crop scientists.
