I participate in two projects aiming to evaluate some alternatives to decrease the demand for commercial fertilizers, without decreased yield level, when growing reed canary grass  (Phalaris arundinace L.) as an energy crop.  In field trials the effect of ash as a fertilizer is tested as well as intercropping of reed canary grass and different legumes. Soil and grass samples will be analyzed for content of heavy metals.
