Cover crops as a tool to reduce Rhizoctonia solani soil infestation and nematode populations

Cold-induced disease resistance in red clover, markers as a tool in breeding programs

My research focus on seed and soil transmitted diseases of potato (Rhizoctonia solani, Helminthosporium solani, Phoma sp.) and red clover (Sclerotinia trifoliorum, Fusarium sp.). The biology of the pathogens and possible ways to control them are studied both in the field and in controlled environments. In a PhD-project (Andreas Åkerström) the influence of various factors on the content of antioxidants (anthocyanidins) in bilberries (Vaccinium myrtillus) is studied.
