Department of Economics

Our largest and most popular educational programmes are the Agronomist programme and the Bachelor programme with specialisation in economics or business administration. We have two Master's programs of high international standard, and a hundred courses. Our educational programmes are of high quality and we have been ranked number two in Sweden.

We carry out research on management of natural resources, and business adminstration, especially in the agricultural sector. We are located in Uppsala, with 78 employees, including seven professors, 28 PhD students and 23 teachers. Most of our teachers are also active researchers.

2012-02-20 -  The Department will host the 130th EAAE seminar
In August the Department of Economics will be hosting the 130th EAAE Seminar on the topic Did Agricultural Economics Dissapoint? Empirical Applications on Governance of Food and Fibre Value Chain.
2012-02-03 -  Work market event 2012
On February 1, the yearly work market event for our students was held at the initiative of Hans Andersson. There was a considerable interest among our students and over 50 persons were present.
2012-02-03 -  Yves Surry – winner of PhDs’ appreciation prize
Professor Yves Surry won the Department’s internal “carrot bucket prize” for his contribution to our PhD students and their work during 2011.

2011-12-15 -  Seminar on climate matters
Professor John Broome, Oxford University, visited our department on Friday to hold a seminar on climate matters, and more specifically the private morality of climate change.
