Information for students

This is where you find more information on application procedure, janitorial, classrooms and computer labs, applying for a degree and crediting of courses and plagiarism prevention.

Application and admission

All applications to our courses and programs are made via the student portal and antagning.se. NOTE: If you have any questions regarding admission to our courses you should turn to the central admission office via e-mail. Please avoid late applications to courses; however it is usually possible to do up until course start.

General question regarding the studies

For general questions regarding your studies, such as diploma, study counselling, studying abroad and transfering credits it is best to contact the Division for Student Affairs (SUS). They are also responsible for the admission to programs and courses. A lot of information can be found here.

Janitorial

In the janitorial, located on the ground floor of the Department of Economics, students can:

- Get assistance with photo copying (for a cost)
- Buy course compendiums
- Pick up corrected exams (do not forget to bring ID!)

Opening hours (for students) are weekdays from 12:45 to 13:15. Janitor Lena Pettersson welcomes you!

Classrooms and computer labs

The Department of Economics is located in a white three-story building from 1873, called “Kåken”, beautifully situated in a park setting in Ultuna campus about five miles south of Stockholm, see map.

The teaching at the department is partly conducted in the actual department building: ES1 (bottom floor), ES2 (bottom floor), Bolinrummet (bottom floor) and Nannesonrummet (1st floor), but also in the main education building, Loftet (above the restaurant Syltan) and HVC on campus.

As a SLU student, you will have access to a number of computer labs when they are not utilized for teaching. One of the computer labs, ES2, is located in the department house. If you want detailed information on the use of computer labs, please visit the home page of IT support. If you want a complete list of the computer labs at SLU, see this list of computer labs.

Graduation and applying for a degree

Is it time to apply for your degree? – Applications for degrees are processed centrally at the university. In order to download forms and find out whom to contact with questions, click on “Degree” following this link.

If you have courses from other universities/colleges that you want included in your degree, they must first be accredited. This information is unfortunately only published in Swedish for the time being, see “tillgodoräknande”.

For further questions regarding accreditation, please contact Caroline af Uhr Granath who is educational handling officer at the faculty office for natural resources and agriculture.

Plagiarism prevention

At SLU, a plagiarism investigation system known as Urkund is used. That means that all kinds of assignments, project work, memos, seminars’ assignments etc in courses offered by the Department of Economics can be subject to examination in Urkund. All independent projects (theses on all levels) will be examined in Urkund. For further information on Urkund, visit the Urkund website.
