Professor John Broome, Oxford University, visited our department on Friday to hold a seminar on climate matters, and more specifically the private morality of climate change. His talk was extracted from a book he has written which is intended for citizens rather than academics. In his presentation, which had a philosophical base line, John Broome talked the audience through moral duties with respect to climate change via what he argues would be the most effective way to reduce our carbon foot print and why.
The seminar was well attended by both staff and students from a range of different subject fields. Sven-Ove Hansson, professor at KTH was the main discussant and Katarina Elofsson from our department had the moderating role.
