Research area
For the next four years (2012 and onwards) my research will focus on collective action within agriculture practice in the Scandinavian countries during the early modern period (sixteenth century up to nineteenth century). The overarching question is how farmers and peasants solved social dilemmas and tried to avoid the tragedy of the commons. Important questions are; how institutions changed; what type of organizations peasants developed; implications for property rights; changes in labor division; and changes’ in agriculture practice, as well as collective action problems at various scales. I have also a research interest in animal husbandry, especially transhumance systems and the evolution of agriculture systems.
