Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology

Welcome to the Department of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology

The department conducts both fundamental and applied research, focused on interactions between plants, fungi and other microorganisms and their roles in forest and agricultural systems.

Important research areas include Forest Pathology, Agricultural Plant Pathology, Plant-Soil-Microorganism Interactions, Microbial & Molecular Ecology, Comparative Genomics and Biological Control.

Interactions are studied at a range of scales, from ecosystem-level processes involving biogeochemical cycling of carbon and plant nutrients, to molecular and cell-level signalling involved in the genetic regulation of interactions. Epidemiology, population biology, biological diversity, evaluation of future threats from plant pathogens, modelling and practical management of plant diseases in forestry and agriculture are also important areas of activity.

The department is part of Uppsala BioCenter at SLU webtracker
