Environmental analysis and environmental monitoring
SLU has been commissioned by the government to conduct environmental analysis. This is done in nine program areas at the university. The Department of Soil and Environment conducts observations in several of these programs, see below. The studies funded primarily by the Environmental protection agency.
Program areas
Agricultural landscape
- The soil compaction program examines the soil physical properties in the agricultural field
- Land and crop inventory examines agricultural soil and crop condition
Forest
Eutrophication
- Investigation of nutrient flows into water from small agricultural dominated catchments (type areas on agricultural land) and from agricultural fields (Field Observation)
- Model calculations of fluxes of nitrogen and phosphorus from land to water for nationalestimates (SLU VattenNAV)
Non-Toxic Environment
- Study of pesticides in water, sediment, precipitation and air in agricultural areas (Plant protection in agricultural areas)
- Pesticides in the Environment - a database of analytical results from the regional water sampling
- Competence Centre for Chemical Pesticides
