Biogeophysics and water quality
Our research focuses on the water-borne transport of nutrients, pesticides and other solutes in the soil ecosystem. This basic process understanding underpins applied research into how land use and climate influence surface water and groundwater quality, which in turn supports the development of rational management strategies and mitigation practices that optimize crop production and minimize adverse environmental impacts in agricultural ecosystems. Our work is characterized by close interactions between basic/applied research, outreach and environmental monitoring and assessment activities.
