Education in Environmental Communication
The Division of Environmental Communication offers different opportunities to study at different levels, adapted for students with different qualifications, interests and ambitions. You can choose between a two year Master's programme or apply for 10 weeks courses or shorter modules of 1 ½ week, the latter being available for distance studies.
Environmental Communication is seen as a specific competence, and an environmental communicator has a specific set of resources and skills. Environmental Communication is also a perspective for understanding society through recognising the influence of communication and its role in Natural Resource Management (NRM) and coordination. Students in environmental communication develop an understanding of communication, collaboration, coordination and management activities in NRM and also get practical skills in analysing, designing and pursuing environmental communication in concrete situations. Our pedagogical approach is based in experiential learning, a problem orientation and critical reflection. The main themes we are working with are communication, participation, democracy, power relations and management of natural resource conflicts.
