Central storage
U:\ is the main storage for all SLU students where every student has 2 GB. The storage is called home folder and your folder corresponds with your username. As long as you are an active student all your work is saved there. If you didn't login to your account in 12 months, your files will be removed and archived.
Storage at the department network
When logging in at any computer at the department, you get access to U:\, L:\, K:\ and U:\, but outside our Department you are only able to login to U:\.
L:\ is where work that both students and teachers have access to is stored, for instance group work or digital assignments.
IMPORTANT!! Files saved under L:\ are removed after one semester, and the storage is completely deleted at the end of every December and every June. It is essential that you save your work under U:\ or that you burn a CD with the information if you need to use it later.
When you create files, use a normal structure, username or course code number, or the name of the project. The structure is checked regularly, and any files that have been created and named in another way might be removed without further notice.
K:\ is where teachers leave materials for the courses to the students. No student is able to write here, only copy and read.
Local storage at the computer - warning!
C:\ is the local storage at every computer. Nobody is allowed to save any information what so ever at C:\ ! This is only a local space and also the mail goal for viruses. Regular re-installations of the operative system is made here without any notice and anything saved here will be deleted. No responsibility is taken for anything saved here, by the department.
