The NL Faculty's Thematic Research Programmes
The NL Faculty and the industry provide research of the highest scientific quality and of benefit of society, through jointly financed and ambitious theme research programmes.
We have five programmes concerning food, bioenergy, soil mapping, environmental effects of stump harvest and biomass production of Salix:
The NL Faculty's research schools
The NL Faculty runs eight research schools. Seven of the schools are part of the NL Faculty’s strategic research investments between the years of 2008-2012. The eighth school is run together with the Faculty of Landscape Planning, Horticulture and Agricultural Sciences (LTJ) between the years of 2008-2012. See the NL-faculty research schools' joint report 2011.

The faculty has initiated a guest researcher programme in 2011, with the aim of promoting exciting and imortant research collaborations. This is made possible by using the profit from the August TLarsson foudation to invite guest researchers from all over the world to enrich and be enriched by the activities at the faculty and SLU. For more information, see the programme web page.
Soil-Water-Environment Center and Uppsala BioCenter

Two new buildings was completed during 2011. The new functional and attractive premises assembles a major part of our research activities. The design of the buildings stimulates meetings and interactions. Sophisticated equipment is available to all scientists of the NL Faculty, which strengthens the research environment of the entire faculty.
