Creative discussions and interactions between disciplines will be stimulated through the design of the new buildings. A number of sophisticated facilities for the cultivation of plants along with high technology platforms will be located in the buildings, available to all researchers at the faculty. Altogether, this will benefit and strengthen the research environment of the entire NL Faculty.

Two new buildings, located on central SLU Campus in Uppsala, will assemble our research activities that today are spread out in seven separate buildings. The following departments will be colocated:

The Soil-Water-Environment Center:

• Aquatic Sciences and Assessment
• Energy and Technology
• Soil and Environment

Uppsala BioCenter:

• Chemistry
• Food Science
• Forest Mycology and Pathology
• Microbiology
• Molecular Biology (will remain at BMC)
• Plant Biology and Forest Genetics

The move to the new facilities is scheduled for spring 2011.
