Here is some brief information for potential students.
Education and courses
The Department’s two main educational programs are a Masters in Management of the Forest Products Industries and Forestry Real Estate. We are also responsible for part of the Erasmus Mundus MSc in European Forestry. Additionally, we have an undergraduate course in Forest management. Moreover, students have the opportunity to undertake their dissertation work in close collaboration with firms in the forest industries.
Contact with industry
The Department continually strives to increase its good working relations with industry. This is done for example through guest seminars, project work and as well as via an annual “kick off” meeting for our Forest industrial economy course in the early Autumn where representatives from industry give seminars and participate in common activities. Our graduates are sought after in industry, and many hold senior positions.
There are also good possibilities to write an interesting Master thesis with the Department in collaboration with the forest industries.

Facilities
Our Department has recently been renovated so our lecture and seminar rooms have a contemporary freshness. Students have a kitchen and coffee room, a number of computer rooms, and study rooms. Students can access these in the evenings and weekends.
Facilities for dogs
For those of you at the Department with dogs, please note that we have newly built facilities for the keeping of dogs and also have nice walks along the river Fyrisån. Ultuna Campus
Ultuna is SLU´s main campus area lying ca 5 km south of Uppsala Centre. The campus has excellent library, educational and training facilities, two restaurants, the Ultuna Studentkår house and data rooms etc all embedded in a beautiful environment with green area close to Fyrisån. There is also good bus contact with Uppsala (http://www.ul.se), free parking and good cycle roads.
Uppsala
Uppsala is an old and rich student town with typical student traditions and Nations. After registration with a Nation you are able to gain access to the pubs, balls and Sunday coffee times and as well as the traditional last of April (coming of spring ! Valborgsfirande) celebrations.
Living
For living possibilities, students can apply through Ultuna studentbostäder or via Ultuna Studentkår. There are also possibilities for acute student housing for shorter periods via Ultuna Studentkår. For living in Uppsala, students can also apply through Studentstaden i Uppsala and Uppsalahem. Other foundations etc that can offer housing possibilities may be found via SLU.
