Conservation biology and Forest history
We conduct research in the fields of conservation biology and forest history. Our ecological research focuses on the effects of conservation in managed coniferous-dominated forests (ML, MKW), and on factors influencing vascular plant species composition in temperate deciduous forests (JB). We investigate the impact of tree species composition on bird communities in the forests of southern Sweden (AF, ML). We also focus on ungulate ecology and landscape management (AnF). Our research into forest history addresses long-term dynamics in forest fires and tree species composition throughout the region, utilizing methods which include pollen analysis (ML, TH), paleoentomology (TH) and dendrochronology (MN, ID).
