The Natural Resource Economics Group
In our research we apply economic theories and methods to questions related to different goods and services from forests. This includes economic valuation of not only timber but also, for example, recreation environments, game for hunting and biodiversity. The research also deals with costs of environmental consideration in forestry, and how to reach different levels of consideration at the lowest costs. New research fields are effects of recreation on human health and economic aspects of multiple use of forests under the influence of climate change. Strategies for balancing different forest functions are analysed on the basis of empirical knowledge concerning values and costs. The empirical research is combined with efforts to contribute to the methodological development. Our research is primarily focused on southern Swedish conditions, but is also carried out in wider national and international contexts.
