More about Forest Resource Analysis

The section conducts research and education within the competence areas forest inventory and empirical ecosystem modelling, forestry in rural studies, and international forestry.

Forest inventory and empirical ecosystem modelling
Methods are developed for field-based forest and landscape inventories. The inventories are relevant for, e.g., forest management, mitigation of climate change, and preservation of biological diversity. Based on inventory data, empirical models are developed for applications in forest inventory, planning, and environmental monitoring.

Forestry in rural studies
Human-induced change processes with regards to their influence on rural communities in relation to the use of the forest resource are studied with an interdisciplinary approach. Research includes studies on connections between natural resource use, stewardship, ecosystem production, and the thereby connected community development processes.

International forestry
The research is multidisciplinary and covers the planning process including all stakeholders, designing national forest inventories and models for estimating land-use changes in developing countries with emphasis on forest.
