The vision for ICBS is to support political decisions, influenced by science, with information, give access to scientific papers of high quality, organize meetings as well as serve as a porch for information about education, occupations and news from related areas.
ICBS is, among other things, host for several annual meetings. The most famous among these is ISMB (http://www.iscb.org/ismb2012), the world's oldest and largest bioinformatics conference, which is organized together witl ECCB. ICBS has two official scientific journals with the highest impact factor in the cathegory of mathematics- and computational biology.
ICBS works in close cooperation with similar bioinformatic networks, such as EMBnet (www.embnet.org), ApBionet (www.apbionet.org) and ASBCB (www.asbcb.org).
