TUVE

Supplementary education for foreign veterinarians to obtain a licence to practice in Sweden
TUVE is a supplementary education course for veterinarians wishing to practice in Sweden, but prevented from doing so by having a licence issued outside the EES Area. The course was founded in 1999 and is held at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet, SLU) in Skara.
While studying, you are entitled to apply for a student grant from the Swedish National Board of Student Aid (Centrala Studiestödsnämnden, CSN).
TUVE is arranged by the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at SLU on behalf of the Swedish Board of Agriculture. The Department of Animal Environment and Health conducts and administers the course. After successfully completing the TUVE course, the Swedish Board of Agriculture will issue you a licence to practice veterinary medicine in Sweden. Your application for a licence must include your certificate of completion of TUVE.
TUVE provides insight into and knowledge of Swedish animal husbandry and veterinary work. It also offers some practical training to improve skills.The course is held in Swedish.The course objectives are as follows:
- The veterinarian shall be well prepared to work in the Swedish veterinary employment market.
- The veterinarian shall have fundamental knowledge of and skills in veterinary medicine that correspond to a Swedish higher education in veterinary medicine.
