The division of reproduction
The division pursues research as well as undergraduate education and postgraduate studies within the following areas:
- Obstetrics (the science which deals with pregnancy and the birth of offsprings)
- Gynaecology (the normal function and disorders in the female genital tract)
- Andrology (the normal function and disorders in the male genital tract)
- Reproductive biotechnology (eg. artificial insemination, embryo transfer, in vitro fertilisation)
- Udder health and -functions
- Effect of environmental and climate changes on reproduction
The majority of the research is carried out in cooperation with other national and international departments.
The division also has a semen reference lab for evaluation of semen samples and a morphological lab where histologial preparations are prepared from mainly domestic animals.
Our division is associated with the Centre of Reproductive Biology in Uppsala (CRU), which is a joint centrum between SLU and Uppsala University.
